Every File You Receive Is Something You Didn't Choose

Organizations spend enormous effort controlling the data that leaves. Far less attention goes to the data that arrives — the files partners, clients, and vendors send in every day. Yet every inbound document is content you didn't create and can't fully vouch for, landing directly inside your environment.

That's a meaningful exposure. A malicious or compromised file received through a sharing workflow can carry exactly the threats your perimeter defenses are meant to stop — only it arrives through a trusted channel, from a known contact, wrapped in a legitimate collaboration.

Sharing works both ways

A secure sharing platform that only protects outbound files is solving half the problem. Collaboration is bidirectional: the same links and workflows that send your documents out also bring other people's documents in. If those inbound files aren't inspected, the sharing channel becomes an entry point.

Scanned before it reaches its destination

Why it matters up the chain

Leadership tends to think about data protection as keeping information from leaking out. But the files coming in are just as capable of causing an incident, and they arrive with an implicit trust that makes them more dangerous, not less. Treating inbound content with the same rigor as outbound is what turns "secure sharing" from a one-directional feature into an actual control.
